Dealing with Canadians who become radicalized.

The following was submitted as a letter to the editor of the Montreal Gazette, and was published on the Gazette’s website on 2014-10-23.

The RCMP is reported to have taken away the passport of Martin (Ahmad) Couture-Rouleau out of concern that he would travel to Iraq or Syria. Would it not have made more sense to tell him that if he did travel to those locales, he would be denied re-entry into Canada?
